Returns, Cancellations and Consumer Rights
We want you to be happy with your purchase. As the items sold through our vintage and collectibles shop are generally older, previously owned and often unique items, we encourage you to read the description carefully and examine all photographs before purchasing.
This page explains our returns and cancellation arrangements and your consumer rights when purchasing from us online. Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
Changing Your Mind
If you purchase an item online as a consumer, you normally have the right to cancel your purchase without giving a reason. For most goods purchased at a distance, the cancellation period runs for 14 days from the day after you receive the item.
If you wish to cancel your purchase, please contact us within this 14-day period to let us know that you wish to cancel. You do not have to give a reason for cancelling.
After telling us that you wish to cancel, you normally have a further 14 days to return the item to us.
How to Request a Return
To request a return or cancellation, please contact us by email and provide your name, details of the item purchased and, where possible, your order or invoice details.
We will provide you with the information needed to return the item. Please do not send an item back without first contacting us.
Items should be returned securely packaged and with reasonable care taken to prevent damage during transit.
Cost of Returning an Item
Where you are cancelling a purchase simply because you have changed your mind, you are normally responsible for the cost of returning the item to us, unless we have agreed otherwise.
Where an item is faulty, not as described or otherwise does not meet your statutory rights, different rules may apply and we will discuss the appropriate return arrangements with you.
Refunds
When you exercise your statutory right to cancel, we will refund the payments we are required to refund under the applicable consumer regulations. This includes the cost of standard delivery where applicable. If you selected a more expensive delivery option, we are generally only required to refund the cost of the standard delivery service.
We will normally issue your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned item, or earlier where you provide suitable evidence that you have sent the item back, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless another arrangement has been agreed with you.
Condition of Returned Items
You are entitled to handle an item to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, in much the same way as you would be able to examine an item in a shop.
However, if an item has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary and its value has been diminished as a result, the law may allow an appropriate deduction from the refund.
Because our products are vintage and collectible items, particular care should be taken when examining and handling them. Please avoid unnecessary use, dismantling, cleaning, modification or other handling that could alter or damage the item.
Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Items
Your legal rights are not limited to the 14-day cancellation period.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods supplied to consumers must, where applicable, be of satisfactory quality, fit for a particular purpose and as described. These statutory rights apply to second-hand and vintage goods too, although the age, description, price and other relevant circumstances of an individual item can be taken into account when considering what is reasonably expected of it.
If you believe an item is faulty, significantly different from its description or otherwise does not meet your statutory rights, please contact us as soon as possible and explain the problem. We will work with you to determine the appropriate remedy.
Depending on the circumstances and the applicable legal rights, remedies can include a refund, repair, replacement or price reduction. For goods that are rejected under the applicable statutory rights, different rules concerning return costs and refunds may apply.
Vintage and Second-Hand Items
The items we sell are generally vintage, antique, collectible or previously owned goods. They may therefore show signs of age, use, wear, fading, marks or other characteristics consistent with their age and history.
We make reasonable efforts to describe the condition of each item accurately and provide photographs to help you assess it before purchasing. Any significant faults, damage or limitations that we are aware of will be included in the description where appropriate.
The fact that an item is old or previously owned does not remove your statutory consumer rights. However, characteristics that have been clearly described or drawn to your attention before purchase, and defects that would reasonably have been apparent from an examination of the item where applicable, may be relevant when considering those rights.
Electrical and Battery-Operated Items
Some vintage items may contain electrical or battery-operated components. Where an item is described as working, this refers to the basic functional checks stated in the individual product description and should not be interpreted as a professional electrical safety inspection.
Due to the age of such products, we recommend that electrical items are professionally inspected where appropriate before regular use, particularly before connection to a modern mains electrical supply.
Any known faults or limitations will be stated in the individual product description. This does not affect your statutory rights where an item does not meet the legal requirements applicable to the sale.
Items Damaged During Delivery
If your item arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and, where possible, provide photographs of the item and its packaging. This will help us investigate the problem with the delivery service and determine the appropriate next steps.
Please retain the packaging until the matter has been resolved, as the courier may require photographs or other information when investigating a damaged delivery.
Your Statutory Rights
Nothing on this website or in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or replace any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
In particular, your statutory rights concerning the quality, description and fitness of goods continue to apply where the law provides them.
If you have any questions about an item before purchasing, please contact us. We are happy to provide additional information where reasonably possible so that you can make an informed decision before buying.
